Anita Rambonnet Reeks - Batavia Calling

A thrilling autobiographical short story about a woman who was imprisoned by the Japanese military police (Kempeitai) in 1942 and was very severely interro- gated because of supposed espionage. The story was presumably written shortly after World War II. It was published - for the first time - in 2004, in English and with an introduction by Coen van ’t Veer and Govert Zijlmans. It forms part of the post-humous, unpublished works of the artist and author Anita Rambonnet - Da Ponte (1895-1955), who lived in Java from 1919 until 1947.

The impression includes fifty numbered copies of fourty pages, with five colour photographs (three depicting drawings by Anita Rambonnet). Stapled.
